The Danish North Sea Partner is an entity established to
administer the Danish North Sea Fund. The fund is the state
participant in new licences for the exploration for and production
of hydrocarbons in Denmark.

administer the Danish North Sea Fund. The fund is the state
participant in future licences for the exploration for and
production of hydrocarbons in Denmark.
In 2005, the Danish North Sea Fund was set up to have the
responsibility for the state’s participation in new hydrocarbon
licences. The fund is independent and shall defray costs and
receive income involved in new licences. The fund shall be
responsible for the 20 per cent state participation in all new
licences in Denmark – open door licences as well as licences
awarded in connection with licensing rounds. By 9 July 2012 the
Fund will also be responsible for the 20 per cent state
participation in Dansk Undergrunds Consortium (DUC).
The Danish North Sea Partner who administers the Danish North Sea
Fund is an entity under the Ministry of Climate and Energy. The
entity may make use of the Danish Energy Agency’s expertise within
administrative as well as technical oil and gas matters. Also the
Danish North Sea Partner may obtain existing information from the
Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS).
The Danish North Sea Fund and the Danish North Sea Partner have
been set up in pursuance of Act No. 587 of 24 June 2005
(Bill and Explanatory notes on the
Bill). Order No. 718 of 5 July 2005 contains the regulations of
the Fund.
Director General Peter Helmer Steen is in charge of the Danish
North Sea Partner. The new entity shares address with the Danish
Energy Agency.
