The Danish Energy Agency takes care of Danish energy policy
interests on energy and environment policy in international
forums.

The
Danish Energy Agency takes care of Danish energy policy interests
through its international, multilateral and bilateral cooperation
on energy and environment policy.
The Danish Energy Agency seeks to promote Denmark’s international
position in the area of energy and to strengthen business and
export opportunities for Danish energy technology and know-how.
These activities take place in a number of different forums,
including the EU, the European Energy Charter, the OECD, the IEA
(the International Energy Agency), the UN, the Nordic Council of
Ministers, IRENA as well as with various bilateral cooperation
partners.
Within the EU there is particular focus on implementing the joint
regulations for the internal energy market for electricity and
natural gas. EU focus is also on drawing up common rules concerning
renewable energy and energy efficiency. In these areas Denmark has
traditionally emphasised common measures to fulfill the commitments
of the EU Member States to stabilise and reduce their CO2
emissions. Through common measures, environmental commitments can
be fulfilled at lower costs than otherwise through purely national
measures.
The Danish Energy Agency seeks to promote Danish enterprises’
exports of energy technology and know-how and participates in many
systems export projects. In cooperation with industry, the Danish
Energy Agency conducts export promotion activities, creating a
platform for Danish industry and know-how and developing a link
between bilateral support and exports.
In recent years, exports of energy technology have increased
rapidly, and in 2007 they amounted to EUR 7 billion, corresponding
to 9 pct. of total Danish exports.
