Climate Change
Climate of the future
The future climate depends largely on greenhouse gas emissions. All IPCC climate scenarios predict increasing temperatures, rising sea levels and other changes.
For the next two decades, climate models predict a temperature increase of 0.2°C per decade for all IPCC greenhouse gas emission scenarios (assuming no political or other interventions to counter emissions).
Changes in global sea level will depend on greenhouse gas emissions. For 2090-2099, as compared to 1980-1999, the likely global water level increases for the lowest IPCC emission scenario are between 18 and 38 cm, and 26 to 59 cm for the highest scenario.
