Newsletter March 2012:
In this edition we bring articles about the Danish EU presidency and the flexible mechanisms, DEA’s second round of applications for Domestic Climate Projects that closed January 2012, the World Bank initiative Partnership for Market Readiness and the Nordic Partnership Initiative’s visit to Peru.Furthermore articles about DEA’s annual CDM seminar in Southeast Asia focusing on verifications and CSR, the UNFCCC registration of the Musim Mas biogas project in Indonesia and last but not least from our internal world the marriage of our Thai LPC.



Newsletter December 2011:

We are proud to present two external articles from WWF, Indonesia and CDM Watch who describe some very interesting perspectives on CDM Gold Standard and sustainable benefits from small scale CDM projects. The Newsletter also contains a comprehensive article about the Danish CDM support to Malaysia, news from COP17 in Durban and a report from our recent information meeting on Domestic Emission Reduction Mechanism. Finally we bring short summaries of the recent meetings at the JISC, CDM EB and Carbon Finance Unit of the World Bank.



Newsletter November 2011:
In this edition we bring articles about the DEA’s participation in CDM Watch’s Civil Society workshop, DEA’s second round of applications for Danish Domestic Climate Projects, a new scheme for sustainable palm oil in Indonesia and news regarding Ukraine’s suspension from CO2 trade under the Kyoto Protocol. Moreover, a review from the recent informal Roundtable Discussion on implementation of EU Community-level projects on emission reductions in the Ministry of Environment in Warsaw, together with a review from the CDCF Committee Meeting in Paris.



Newsletter October 2011:
This edition focuses on two new market mechanisms in India, which will facilitate trade in the carbon market. The two mechanisms are among a number of initiatives promoting the overall development of India while achieving climate change effectively. Summaries from the latest UNFCCC meeting in Panama and the 26th JISC meeting in Bonn concerning the future CDM and JI mechanisms are available in the Newsletter. Finally, this edition contains three articles from the DEA’s latest site visits in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Czech Republic, where the projects are making progress in implementing new technologies and reducing CO2 emissions.



Newsletter September 2011:
Based on the current Polish EU presidency, we bring you a thematic article about the EU Trio Presidency, Polish Energy Policy, JI projects in Poland and the Danish JI portfolio in Poland. Furthermore, this edition contains articles about the 62nd Executive Board meeting, DEA’s latest site visit to biogas projects in Cyprus and the suspension of Romania from Kyoto carbon trade. Finally, we bring an article from our internal world about the launch of the new JI/CDM website.




Newsletter July 2011:
This edition focuses on the recent UNFCCC Climate Change Talks in Bonn regarding flexible mechanisms, REDD+ and LULUCF. In addition, we bring an abstract of the Danish government committee on Forests in relation to LULUCF, which is followed by a briefing from our Climate Forum.





Newsletter June 2011:
This edition focuses on our Domestic JI programme, Standardized Baselines, Forestry, and the Carbon Expo recently held in Barcelona.
 





Newsletter May 2011:
This edition focuses on forest, afforestation and deforestation in a carbon trading perspective. Carbon taken up and stored in trees and soil are only partly included in the overall carbon accounting. In future, this is likely to be changed. Carbon Forestry Projects that plant trees to capture carbon seem as a first opportunity for carbon markets. The topic is being discussed in this Newsletter.




Newsletter April 2011:
This edition’s main stories are an outline of DEA’s decision to withdraw from Russian JI-activities as a consequence of uncertain conditions, and a voluntary Danish initiative on industrial gas credits. The edition also contains reports from site visits to projects in Ukraine and Uganda, and we bring you an update from the 24th meeting of the JISC.





Newsletter March 2011:
This edition focuses on experiences from Thailand through interviews of people who have been engaged for years in CDM. Also included is information of particular projects in Thailand.






Newsletter February 2011:
This edition focuses on issues from the Cancun Conference in Mexico particularly on how to boost CDM for the poorest countries and also on the new market mechanisms now on the international table. Also included are articles on the EU ETS restrictions on particular emission reductions, our domestic JI programme, our bilateral interventions related to project monitoring in Southeast Asia, as well as updates on our project interventions in Egypt, Polen and Ukraine.




Newsletter December 2010:
This edition of the newsletter will focus on China and the Danish cooperation with China. The bilateral cooperation with China goes back to 1986. However, from 2005 a Danish wind energy programme started up as well as a CDM programme. This will be further elaborated in this newsletter.





Newsletter November 2010:
In this edition we are delighted to bring detailed articles on our Seven Years of Experience with developing JI and CDM projects in Eastern Europe and in developing countries. Also included are articles on the status of the Danish carbon compliance and the latest on the Danish Domestic JI project development. The JISC and CDM EB highlights are as usual made available.




Newsletter October 2010:
We are delighted to bring detailed articles on Uganda and the Danish project interventions in Uganda. This includes a recent signing of an emission reduction purchase agreement for a small hydro project. Furthermore, this edition brings articles on recent visits to China, India, and Indonesia. In Indonesia, the Danish State also recently entered an emission reduction purchase agreement for a small scale biogas project. An article on CDM highlights focuses on the HFC23 status.



Newsletter September 2010:
In this edition, we are delighted to bring detailed articles on the Danish project interventions in Malaysia. In addition, an article on the first mission by the Danish Energy Agency’ to the Maldives, the latest development from the CDM Board meeting and an article on our first approved JI project in Russia. The performance and management of the Danish JI-CDM programme has been evaluated during spring 2010. Hence, we bring some of the main highlights. Finally, the Danish Energy Agency has published a book on its seven years of experience working with JI and CDM. We bring a brief introduction as well as a link to the publication.



Newsletter July 2010:
In this edition we are pleased to bring thematic articles on Romania; the Danish JI projects in Romania in general as well as a more comprehensive article of one of the particular projects in Romania. We also bring to your attention specific articles on projects in Bulgaria, China, India and Ukraine. As usual we provide you with updated information on the latest JISC meeting. Finally, we bring you a summary of the recently Climate Forum (Klimaforum) held in Copenhagen mid-June. This summary includes information from the Bonn climate negotiations held in early June.



Newsletter June 2010:
In this edition we are pleased to bring thematic articles on Indonesia; the Danish CDM projects in Indonesia as well as a more comprehensive article of one of the particular projects in Indonesia. Also we bring to your attention our new deal on a forestry JI project in New Zealand and specific articles on projects in China, Malaysia and Russia. As usual we also provide you with updated information on the latest EB meeting. Finally, we bring you some piece of information on our first JI credits from Romania, the recently held Carbon Expo in Koln, the Clean Tech seminar held in Denmark as well as news from our internal world.



Newsletter May 2010:
We are delighted to bring to you in this edition thematic articles on the Danish project interventions in Russia. In addition, we include articles on the latest development from the JISC and CDM Board meetings, on a new Danish initiative on domestic joint implementation projects, latest NAP development in Bulgaria, on further Danish wind interventions in China and concluding with an announcement for a CleanTech seminar to be hold in Denmark in May.




Newsletter April 2010:
We are delighted to bring thematic articles on the Danish project interventions in Thailand. In addition, we include in this edition also articles on the latest development in the Danish participation on the World Bank administered Community Development Carbon Fund, the Carbon Market Forum in Kenya, project visits to Uganda and Bangladesh as well as changes in the Danish Carbon Team. 




Newsletter March 2010:
From this outset on, we are delighted also to bring thematic articles on particular countries and the Danish projects in those countries. In this edition we have focused on Poland, its JI potentials and the highlighting of one of our fastidious JI projects in Poland. We also provide you with updated information on the latest EB meeting, the latest JISC meeting as well as articles on our wind projects in China, the latest development in the Danish Carbon Fund and the ongoing LoA tender process in Russia. Finally, we also bring you a short article from our internal semi-annual meeting held together with all our local programme and project staff.



Newsletter February 2010:
This edition of the Newsletter has focus on COP15 in connection to CDM and JI, the Least Developing Countries (LDC), an up to date on the Climate Forum for the Danish private sector, a new Nordic ini-tiative on Carbon Market Mechanisms as well as news from challenging visits to countries and projects.





Newsletter December 2009
In this edition of the DEA Newsletter we aim to inform you on news from the recent gatherings of the CDM Executive Board (EB) and also the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC). Furthermore we briefly cover the new annual CDM report, as well as a new DEA study on possibilities for domestic JI. Also the DEA has included more landfills in two of our polish JI projects, and signed a new ERPA and two LoI’s in Indonesia. We are also proud to introduce a Programmatic Solar Cell CDM project in Thailand. Lastly we present two new folders, and a video on the DEA, World Bank and IICDF COP15 compensation project in Bangladesh.



Newsletter November 2009
In this edition of the DEA Newsletter we aim to inform you of the present Carbon Market Negotiations under UNFCCC, the latest from the CDM EB and the JISC meetings, and an update on the World Bank / Danish Carbon Fund activities. We also bring you news of our COP15 carbon offset project in Bang-ladesh as well as the very first transfer of JI credits coming out of Poland, and the extension of our cooperation with Lovochemie in the Czech Republic.




Newsletter October 2009
In this edition of the DEA Newsletter, we aim to inform you of the present Carbon Market Negotia-tions, the prospects for U.S. reengagement in the UNFCCC, the latest from the CDM EB and the JISC meetings, a meeting held with the newly appointed minister of environment and water in Bulgaria as well as the present CDM/JI project development status under the Danish Government.

After a long Danish holiday season, we are ready to take up the regular monthly Newsletter. In this edition of the DEA Newsletter, we aim to inform you of additional fund for JI and CDM project development, the new strengthened approach in Indonesia, project development and the latest JISC developments. 





Newsletter Juli 2009:
In this edition of the DEA Newsletter, we aim to inform you about a visit to Russia by the Danish Minister for Climate and Energy Ms. Connie Hedegaard, the latest developments from the JISC, NEFCO and a CDCF update from Bangladesh. Also included in the newsletter is an article regarding the CDM-guide mentioned in the June Newsletter.





Newsletter June 2009:
In this edition of the DEA Newsletter, we aim to inform you of the developments from the recently held Carbon Expo Conference in Barcelona regarding the future of the carbon markets. We provide a information about a new useful CDM-guide from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The DEA is also proud to bring you exciting project news from Poland, Romania, Thailand and Uganda respectively.




Newsletter May 2009:
In this edition of the DEA Newsletter, we aim to inform you of the developments in the ongoing international negotiations regarding the future of the carbon markets as well as a JISC update outlining key new initiatives. We provide a background of the World Bank led Community Development Carbon Fund, and the DEA’s participation in that fund. This edition contains news of Denmark’s strengthening of its approach to climate projects in Russia and of our upcoming Climate Forum. The DEA is also proud to bring you exciting project news from Poland, Malaysia, and Thailand respectively.



Newsletter April 2009:
In this edition of the Danish Carbon Newsletter you can read about the Danish Energy Agency’s (DEA) training course in China and an operational status visit to the Lusakert project in Armenia. This edition also includes a synopsis of India and South Africa respectively as CDM countries. You can also read about our activities within the cement sector; an agreement with a Russian cement company and a facilitation mission to Pakistan in cooperation with a Danish technology provider. We report on DEA’s capacity building in Bulgaria and bring you a JISC update on the plans for a DVM and PoA.



Newsletter March 2009:
In this edition of the Danish Carbon Newsletter you can read about the Danish Energy Agency’s (DEA) visit to an N20 abatement project in Czech Republic, as well as the completion of a successful moni-toring training exercise in Romania. Head of department for climate change and energy economics at the DEA and alternate member of Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC), Mr. Anton Beck, also speaks about the recent JISC meeting in Bonn.

In this number of the Danish Carbon Newsletter, you can read about Danish Carbon projects in China, Malaysia and Romania. There is also an article about a Danish Palm Oil production, which is the first in the world to be certified as Sustainable Palm Oil Production. Furthermore you can read about new cli-mate guaranties for Danish companies.





Newsletter January 2009:
In this number of the Danish Carbon Newsletter, you can read about a mission to Bangladesh together with DanChurchAid in order to identify project potentials in Rangpur. You can also read about a new JI project in Kirov, Russia, monitoring training in St. Petersburg and a visit to a JI project in Far Eats Russia. Furthermore, this newsletter contains an update on the Climate Conference in Poznan (COP 14) and the EU package on climate change.




Newsletter December 2008:
In this number of the Danish Carbon Newsletter, you can read about CDM-potentials in Ghana and a technical seminar in India concerning wind energy and CDM. Furthermore, you can read about a new web guide for Danish companies regarding JI and CDM and the next meeting in Klimaforum. Finally, you can read about DNV Suspension of DNV Executive Board and an internal workshop with DEA’s project coordinators in Copenhagen.




Newsletter November 2008:
In this number of the Danish Carbon newsletter, you can read about a new JI agreement with a landfill gas project in Poland, an agreement in Malaysia (MoU) setting new standards for Palm oil mills and an agreement in India (LoI), which will facilitate CDM projects for Danish companies and provide an opportunity for technology transfer. You can also read about the Danish Emissions Trading Registry, which has been connected to the UN Emissions Trading System and the Danish Carbon Fund’s annual meeting in Washington.



Newsletter October 2008:
In this number of the Danish Carbon newsletter you can read about Danish participation in JI projects in Russia. The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has signed a new agreement with a project in Priozersk north of St. Petersburg and has been on site visits in Leningrad Oblast region in Russia. You can also read about DEA’s site visit in Egypt. Furthermore, the newsletter contains a summary of the workshop with the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) in Bonn, a commentary on the outcome of climate talks in Accra and an update on the EU package on climate change.



Newsletter September 2008:
The objective of this first newsletter is to give you an update on our JI and CDM projects and the latest news from the CDM Executive Board (CDM EB) and Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC). Furthermore, the purpose is to inform you about Danish and international JI and CDM policy and the work we do in our JI/CDM unit. We hope that the information will be helpful in relation to for instance the Embassies’ assistance to Danish ETS companies and technology providers on the local JI or CDM markets.
