Knowledge Centre for Energy Savings in Buildings
As part of the energy policy agreement of 21 February 2008, it was decided to establish a Knowledge Centre for Energy Savings in Buildings.
An annual sum of DKK 10 million has been allocated to the project in the period 2008-2011. Who was to run the centre was decided through an EU call for tender in July 2008. In accordance with the current regulations concerning public procurement, the winner was appointed by the Danish Energy Agency on the basis of the criteria stated in the contract documents.
The winner was a consortium consisting of the Danish Technological Institute (TI), the Danish Building Research Institute/Aalborg University, Viegand and Maagøe, and Kommunikationskompagniet. The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the Association of Danish Energy Companies and Sebra are regular subcontractors. The centre has its offices at the Danish Technological Institute and opened for the general public on 4 January 2009.
The objective of the Knowledge Centre’s work is to ensure greater awareness in the construction sector of how energy savings in buildings can be achieved, and to ensure greater awareness of the building regulation requirements and hereby increase actual energy savings. The primary target group is tradesmen, contractors, advisors and consultants as well as smaller enterprises in the construction sector.
