The Danish Energy Agency is a member of OMHEC (Offshore Mechanical Handling Equipment Committee), an international forum composed of representatives of offshore regulatory authorities from Denmark, the UK, Norway and the Netherlands, as well as verification bodies and specialists in the area. The Committee was established for the purpose of discussing issues related to crane and lifting operations.
One objective is to prepare guidance documents that can provide a common platform for health and safety issues associated with crane and lifting operations, and which are available to the offshore industry free of charge.
In 2006, OMHEC entered into a formalized collaboration agreement with the North Sea Offshore Authorities Forum (NSOAF). Thus, in future, NSOAF will use OMHEC as a specialist adviser in matters concerning crane and lifting operations.
To make the results of this international collaboration between regulatory authorities more visible, OMHEC has launched its own website, which contains information about the organization, contact persons in the individual member countries and the guidance documents prepared. All guidance documents are available in an English-language version only.
