Accidents must be reported no later than nine days after the accident has occurred. In case of fatal accidents or serious personal injury, the accident must be reported immediately by telephone to the Danish Energy Agency or Esbjerg Police and later followed up by a written report.
More detailed information about the accidents to be reported immediately can be found in the Danish Energy Agency’s guidelines to Executive Order No. 33 of 13 January 2005 on the Registration and Notification of Work-Related Injuries etc., issued in pursuance of the Act on Certain Offshore Installations, (the Notification Order). The guidelines (Notification Guidelines) in Danish can be downloaded via the link in the box: “Read more”.
Accidents must be reported by using a special notification form or digitally by means of the EASY system (see below). The notification form and guidelines for its completion can be obtained by clicking the links under “Read more”.
Digital reporting of accidents offshore - EASY
Accidents on offshore installations can be reported digitally via the Internet by using the electronic reporting system, EASY, of the National Working Environment Authority and the National Board of Industrial Injuries.
EASY can be accessed via the link under “Read more”. Although this is not immediately apparent from EASY’s welcome page, accidents that have occurred offshore can also be reported. These reports will be sent automatically to the Danish Energy Agency instead of the National Working Environment Authority. The offshore option appears during the process of filling in the information.
Only companies registered in Denmark holding a “CVR” or an “SE” number can report accidents via EASY. Thus, foreign companies are so far unable to use EASY to report accidents and must use the notification form referred to above instead.
Accident statistics
Accident statistics are published in the section on health, safety and the environment in the annual report on oil and gas production in Denmark.
Reporting damage to the installation or near miss incidents
Incidents resulting in serious damage to the installation or its equipment must be reported to the Danish Energy Agency. Incidents that might have resulted in such damage or personal injury must also be reported (near miss incidents). Further details about the damage and incidents to be reported are available in the notification guidelines.
