Spotlight on Denmark’s oil and gas production 2008
The Danish state recorded record revenue from the production of oil and natural gas in the North Sea in 2008.
Although the DEA has had to write down its oil reserve assessment, the outlook for activity in the North Sea has some bright spots.
In 2008, the DEA carried out 24 inspections of offshore installations and eight inspections of the operators’ onshore bases.
The energy consumed to produce oil and gas must be reduced if we are to meet the goal in the energy agreement from February 2008 prescribing a 2-per-cent reduction in gross Danish energy consumption during the period 2006-2011.
The subsoil in the metropolitan region contains so much hot water that it can cover up to half the region’s district heating requirements for several thousand years.
