The Energy Supply Section is responsible for the overall
planning of Denmarks electricity, heat and natural gas supply.

The Energy Supply Sections goal is to develop a socioeconomically
and environmentally optimal energy sector for the benefit of
consumers.
Our duties involve the entire chain of energy supply - from the
production of electricity and heat to the transport of energy
through pipes and lines to individual users.
We help to establish the proper frameworks and tools to ensure
that, for example:
- there is a sufficient and secure energy supply;
- the energy sector grows cost-effectively;
- energy companies and operations contribute to reducing
greenhouse gas emissions; and
- greater use of renewable energy is promoted in the Danish
energy supply.
The Energy Supply Section is also concerned with European and
international tasks. For example, the EU and Nordic Council of
Ministers’ policies concerning a more sustainable energy sector and
improved supply security are of great importance for Danish energy
policy.
Our principal duties are to:
- Develop and administer legislation in the field;
- Establish administrative rules on specific topics;
- Issue permits for constructing high-voltage plants, wind
turbines, wave power plants, and other types of power plants;
- Issue and renew licenses for grid-distribution and energy
production companies, etc.;
- Hold tenders for offshore wind farms;
- Take on planning assignments;
- Administer CO2 quota registration;
- Collect data and statistics; and
- Participate in relevant international forums such as the EU and
the Nordic Council of Ministers.
