Large-scale offshore wind farms at Horns Rev and Kriegers Flak As part of the follow-up to the energy-policy agreement of 22 March 2012, two new large-scale offshore wind farms are to be established.
- Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm with a capacity of 400MW in the North Sea, and
- Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm with a capacity of 600MW in the Baltic Sea.
Both of the offshore wind farms will be put up for tender in 2013-2015 and are expected to be commissioned in 2017-2020.
With a view to establishing the offshore wind farms at the least possible risk for future consession owners, and in order to achieve the lowest cost possible, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Building has decided to initiate the preliminary surveys (EIA report and relevant seabed surveys, etc.) now, so that they can be completed before the tenderers submit their bids.
Energinet.dk is therefore instructed to carry out these preliminary surveys in addition to the establishment of the offshore grid connection infrastructures. Read the instruction here.
Anholt offshore wind farm
DONG Energy will be building and operating Anholt offshore wind farm. The farm is to be 400MW and will be producing the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 400.000 households.

Nissum Bredning - test area for wind turbines
On October 9th, the Danish Energy Agency pointed out a gross area in Nissum Bredning to be reserved for testing and developing wind turbines. The DEA considered the submitted applications and on February 12th 2010, the Danish Energy Agency decided to give Nissum Bredning Vindmøllelaug I/S and Nordvestjysk Elforsyning a.m.b.a. exclusive rights to do preliminary examinations in the appointed area. The permission to do preliminary examinations includes an EIA etc. All costs are paid for by the applicant, also if the DEA assesses that wind turbines cannot be established in the area.
The EIA will be published by the Danish Energy Agency in connection with a broad public hearing.
