The tender of Anholt Offshore Wind Farm in Kattegat is open. The
farm is to be 400MW and shall be connected to the Danish electrical
grid by 31 December 2012. The EIA is now subject to a public
hearing which will end 8 March 2010.
The 30 April 2009 Danish Energy Agency invited all relevant
companies via a tender to make a bid for Anholt Offshore Wind Farm
in Kattegat. The farm is to be 400MW and shall be connected to the
Danish electrical grid by 31 December 2012.
Terms for the project are
described in the tender specifications, which are available on this
page. The deadline for the tender is 7 April
2010.
The Danish
Energy Agency has adjusted the previous tendering procedure, which
was used for the tenders for Roedsand II and Horns Rev II, so that
Energinet.dk (the Danish transmission system operator) is
conducting preliminary investigations on the site of the project.
The preliminary investigations include an EIA and preliminary
geophysical/geotechnical surveys of the seabed. This work has been
completed and the EIA is submitted to a public hearing.
The public hearing will be completed on the 8 March 2010 and
the results published before bids have to be submitted. If the EIA
cannot be approved, the tender will be cancelled.
The winner of the tender will
be awarded a concession, permission for further preliminary
investigations and permission to establish the farm, after which
the main contractor can finalise contracts and the detailed
planning.
Energinet.dk will be
responsible for financing and constructing the substation at sea
and connecting the farm to the electrical grid on land.
Background
Danish energy policy takes a three pronged approach: security of
supply, consideration of climate change, and economic efficiency.
The vision of the Danish government is to achieve a society
independent of fossil fuels. As part of this vision, the government
is working towards the ambitious goal of achieving a share of
renewable energy of 30% of gross consumption by 2020.
The offshore wind farm is part
of the February 2008 Energy Policy Agreement between the Danish
Government and all of the parliamentary parties, except the Danish
Red-Green Alliance (Enhedslisten). When finished in 2012, the 400
MW offshore wind farm will deliver environmentally friendly
electricity corresponding to the annual electricity consumption of
400,000 households. This equals app. 4 % of the Danish electricity
production.
