Natural gas supply in Denmark came about as a consequence of the 1973-74 oil crisis. In the years following the oil crisis, reducing Denmark’s dependency on oil supplies from abroad became an important energy policy goal.

There are more than two and a half million domestic heating installations in Denmark. Many of these, one and a half million, are district heating (DH) installations. Thus, district heating dominates the heating scene of Denmark.

Denmark is a country with a long expirience within renewable energy. Energy from renewable sources is CO2 neutral, because it, opposit fossil based energy sources, doesn't cause CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.
