Actual Danish energy consumption was 7.3% lower in Q2 2009 than in Q2 2008. Coal and oil consumption has fallen in particular. Consumption of coal and coke fell by 15.2%, while oil consumption fell by 6.7%. Consumption of natural gas fell by 4.9%.
When adjusted for fuel consumption in connection with foreign trade in electricity, Danish energy consumption was 8.0% lower in Q2 2009 than in Q2 2008.
Actual energy consumption in the first half of 2009 went down by 1.9% relative to the first half of 2008. Adjusted for net imports of electricity, energy consumption fell by 3.5%.
Primary energy production was 12.8% lower in Q2 2009 than in Q2 2008. Crude oil production went down by 7.3%, while natural gas production went down by 25.9% due to a significant fall in exports of natural gas. A statistical statement of total production and consumption figures for renewable energy in 2009 is not yet available. In the monthly statistics, production and consumption are assumed to be unchanged from 2008.
Energy consumption in the first half of 2009 fell by 11.0%. Natural gas production fell by 23.5%, while crude oil production fell by 5.2%.
