In January 2003, in the publication “Ny forbrugerpolitik” (New Consumer Policy), the Danish government announced its intention to create transparency in the new liberalised markets, including the gas market, amongst other things by supporting the establishment of a pricelist with comparable information about energy prices.

To this end, Gastra (now Energinet.dk) was requested to examine the possibilities for establishing a pricelist for natural gas prices for private households. As a result, on 4 January 2005 Gastra launched Gasprisguiden.dk (only available in Danish), which provides guidance on gas prices for private households and where consumers can calculate the price of their gas consumption from different suppliers.

Gastra has since become a part of the state-owned electricity and gas system operator Energinet.dk.
